Make Your Own Hobby Horse

Making your own hobby horse is a super fun and creative DIY project for kids and adults alike. With a little care and love, you can create a unique hobby horse that reflects your own personal style. It doesn’t matter if you’re just starting out or already have experience with hobby horses—making your own is incredibly rewarding.

What do you need for your hobby horse?

Start with a sturdy stick that fits comfortably in your hand. This will be the body of your hobby horse. For the head, use soft materials such as felt or wool. Sew everything neatly together with a needle and thread to shape the head. Then stuff it well with some extra wool or soft filling so it stays firm.

Eyes and Other Details

A hobbyhorse really comes to life with beautiful glass eyes, eyelashes, and soft felt eyelids. Glue everything securely in place with fabric glue so it doesn’t come loose during play. Want to make it even sturdier? Reinforce it further with stitching. Add a cute blaze and a soft nose to finish off the head.

Hair and Accessories

Make a beautiful mane out of soft wool or felt and attach it to the top of the head. Want to take it a step further? Then add a saddle, a bridle, and even reins made of leather or fabric. That way, your hobby horse will not only look great but also be fully equipped.

Extra sturdiness for your one-of-a-kind hobby

Make sure everything is securely fastened. Use good-quality glue and ensure that the bottom of the head is sturdy, for example, by adding an extra layer of fabric or cardboard. This will ensure that your horse is sturdy and will last a long time. Trim and finish the edges neatly so that no loose threads or stains are visible.

Fun and Creativity with Hobby Horsing

Making your own hobby horse is also a great opportunity to show off your creativity. Choose your favorite colors, create a unique design with accessories, and give your hobby horse its own personality. You can even make a saddle and other accessories to go with it, so it becomes a complete set. That way, you’ll not only have fun making it, but also playing with it.
